The Hidden History of Creativity

Side by side with the subconscious (or unconscious) and conscious levels in human personality, a third stratum - the supra-conscious - is gaining increasing recognition. It is not the subconscious or unconscious, but the supra-conscious energies that are beginning to be considered as the real source of all great human creations, discoveries and inventions in all fields of culture - science, philosophy, law, ethics, fine arts, technology, politics and economics... Such phenomena as extrasensory, perception and psychokinesis; as the supra-conscious religious experience of the great mystic; as precognition; as the co-called "calculating boys" or "arithmetical prodigies"; as the state of samadhi of the yogi, or satori of the Zen Buddhists; as cognitive and creative intuition are neither subconscious nor unconscious, but supra-conscious, and, as such, are not reducible to the lower forms of vital and mental energy.
